Soyeon Kim is an urban planner, architect, and spatial research analyst with a strong focus on resident engagement. Her expertise lies in analyzing urban data using GIS and employing her skills to foster meaningful connections with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) residents.
Having completed her studies in urban planning at Columbia GSAPP (MSUP) and architecture at Hanyang University (BArch, MDes), Soyeon is deeply interested in addressing spatial exclusion, including urban segregation, affordable housing, informality, and community revitalization. She firmly believes in creating livable and equitable cities where minority communities have a voice in shaping their neighborhoods according to their desires.
Currently based in New York, Soyeon works for the NYCHA Real Estate Development Department's PACT program. In her role as a Research Analyst, she not only analyzes and manages spatial data for the PACT team, but also dedicates herself to engaging with NYCHA residents. Soyeon navigates residents through the intricacies of the PACT process, ensuring they have the necessary information and support to participate effectively.
Born and raised in Busan, South Korea, Soyeon now resides in New York. This experience enables her to establish deeper connections with residents and gain valuable insights into their perspectives. Her commitment to resident engagement drives her efforts to build inclusive cities that empower communities to transform their neighborhoods.
